Toni Gonzaga, inlove?
Television’s bubbly girl Toni Gonzaga is being hotly pursued by music video director Paul Soriano, grandson of the late Nestor de Villa. This we learned when we spoke to Toni during the media launch of her new CD.“He is actually very nice and every inch a gentleman,“ she begins, with sparks in her eyes, hinting that whatever they have this early might evolve into something deeper and more serious.
Toni has been linked to many of her fellow celebrities since she jumped into the backyard of ABS-CBN from her original mother studio. For every new project that needed a marketing and promotions blitz, she will be talked about playing beautiful music with the likes of Piolo Pascual, Vhong Navarro, Luis Manzano and Sam Milby. But the public has become more and more discerning and less and less gullible and none of those gimmicks worked.“I guess it’s hard to conceal something that is real, in the same way that it’s not easy to cover up something that is fake and shallow,“ she intones, adding that she is very much open to explore the possibilities of falling deep in love if Paul is really the right person for her.“You cannot really stop it if it comes. It will be so hard to suppress any kind of feeling, especially love, because it is such a beautiful emotion,“ she says, hinting that she has indeed, opened her heart again.
It’s been a long journey for Toni since she took runner-up honors in a singing search of GMA 7, the same contest that also discovered the many potentials of Melanie Calumpad who is now better known as Kyla.Toni has proven her worth as a co-host and as a bankable leading lady romantic-comedy projects but it is her love for singing that makes her truly excited. In fact, her new CD titled Falling In Love, released by Star Records. It is during the shoot of the music video for the carrier single with the same title where Toni and Paul made a lot of realizations—that they like each other and they are free to pursue their feelings if they both decide to do so.
Listening to her new CD, it is rather evident that Toni has improve much as a singer —she has achieved clarity in the delivery of her lyrics and there is already texture in her voice. Two years ago, we had a peek at Toni’s emotions through her songs in her You Complete Me album, but this CD is much better in terms of choice of songs and production values.
The album has 11 tracks of soulful music. Other notable cuts in the album are “I’ve Fallen For You,” which has been chosen as the theme song for the upcoming movie of Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson, and the song “Perfect World,” which is familiar to computer game fanatics. In the meantime, Toni says that she will take things slowly. “I feel, that for many years, my life has been a constant rush from one place to another, from one agenda to the next. I know that I will be in the thick of promoting this CD but I’d like to take things easy this time. You know, I realized that only when we take time out to smell the roses can we really see the beauty that is around us.”Perhaps Toni has realized that in order for her to be complete, she must set aside time and space for the more important things in life, like finding true love.
